Abstract

Transportation numbers in Indonesia were grown rapidly, based on data from the Central Bureau of Statistics of Indonesia, the number of vehicles in Indonesia reached 136.13 million in 2020, and each year at least increased by 5%. These enhancements raise new challenges, such as Indonesian government's program named “100 smart cities”. This challenge is supported by development of VANET technology that allows vehicles to communicate each other in real time. Unfortunately, IEEE 802.1p network standard used on VANET only allows one transmission at time and prohibits simultaneous transmission. This can lead to hidden node. To overcome the hidden node problem through arranged the data transmissions by choosed suitable routing protocol. This study aims to simulate the realistic situation at Letjen Hertasning Street Makassar City, then analyze the performance of routing protocols. This study was implemented in four phases: literature study, design scenario, hidden node simulation using AODV and OLSR routing protocols and analysis simulation results. To test the performance of both routing protocol, it is used 3 testing metrics which are PDR, average throughput, and E2ED. The result of the simulation shows that OLSR routing protocol performance is superior compared to AODV. OLSR has a better performance that is PDR of 93.47wQbNPTDJp9hMYdvogK2hAUiHsGeiybwaWe36bwtRQ3UTpYV7YuZ8FV5j9nauFCWwcjM6dTzpL5s2N79Rp5unwdMvc8ZKU score PDR of 90.80%, average throughput of 2.71 Kbps, and E2ED of 1212 seconds.
